It's been a long while since I've posted here (or anywhere), but Ive finally settled into my new job. 

Speaking my new job.... there's the perk of tasty eye candy.  This one guy, whose name I've yet to learn, has the most ogle-able ass I've come across in quite some time.  Seriously.  Every time I find myself walking behind him, my eyes are pulled by some magnetic force to stare at it.  Luscious.  I only took notice of my eyes wandering tendencies a couple of days ago,but, thinking back, it's been going on for a couple of weeks.  And, did I mention luscious?

Right.  So my brother finally has a job; he starts Wednesday, so financial doom is no longer on the horizon.  It's quite a relief, actually.

I've also found myself pulled (temporarily) away from gaming.  It seems I've randomly developed a small obsession with Harry Potter fanfiction.  Especially the stories that have Dark!Harry and Dumbledore definitely not painted the as the paragon of all thing good and pure.  The sad thing is, it's improbably difficult to find anything well written (in terms of plot).  Given the astounding volume of Harry Potter fanfiction, one would think I'd find more than 1 in 100 quality stories.  Of course, I'm not a huge fan of the whole black and white theme that pops up in the original works, nor am I overly fond of the blatant prejudices JKR displayed both for and against her versions of light and dark.  It's why I was never so much into the series in the first place - overly stereotypical for tastes.  But, apparently most of the fan base that shares my POV on the matter can't seem to find an original spin on things beyond 3 or 4 plot ideas that emerged before HBP was released.  I can honestly say that 99% of what I've trudged through is fairly verbatim in terms if plot-line.  And I'm excluding the Severitus challenge answers from this statement because that actually has fairly rigid guidelines to follow.  But, oh when I dig up a gem to read, it makes the seemingly fruitless search that much more bearable.  Additionally, the fandom, by nature, lends itself to epic-length fiction.

And now, I'm thinking it's time for bed.

Mom called me last night and told me not to come home this weekend.

Or wait, that sounds mean. She said "You might not want to come home this weekend." For various reasons, all of which are terrifying but also correct.

So I am sitting here debating whether I should actually leave the house and go to the gym and enjoy the nice walk over there, or stay here and make damn sure UPS doesn't leave me high and dry again like they did on Tuesday.

I dyed my hair last night. It's the same color it's generally supposed to be, but perms and summer sun (what tragically small amounts I get) made the ends an almost dark blonde. So I overcompensated with the dye, overprocessed the ends, and now I have roots that are my true color and ends that are almost black.

I'm happy about it. I wore my cowl neck dress and some nice shoes to class and it's a good day.

I saw an artist on Etsy who made simple prints onto moleskine journals, of things like scissors and clothespins and keys. I loved that, and I use moleskine journals all the time. I like to draw on the covers of mine, so I know which end is up, and I thought it might be a neat idea to do a few one-of-a-kind journals to put up on Etsy. My first one:

I had a job interview Monday, for a bar/coffeeshop in a hotel closeby. This hotel is over-the-top opulent; there are hammerhead sharks and manta rays in their garden pools. I think I've pretty much got it handed to me, but I've also applied to my favorite bead store, whose staff confided that they'd need the help soon. Not hard to guess which job I'd prefer, but I'll take what I can get.

J has made noise about the necessity of my added income when he gets out of the military, but I think we both know that's laughable. (He found out today he'll be making 20K more than he'd thought, a grossly unnecessary but appreciated number.) Mostly, I think he's just trying to encourage me to go back out and make friends. I do miss my Starbucks sisters and brothers. That, and he knows how punchy I feel when I can't pay for what few things I require, how giddy I am when I can press a fistful of twenties into his hand and tell him to bring back tea.

I'll find out whether I've got it on Monday, when, incidentally, I'll be enjoying a post-birthday ROOT CANAL, FUN FUN FUN. XC But, I'll be glad to have it done. I just can't complain. Life is really outrageously nice right now.

What's been going down lately.

Mad Men was crazy on Sunday, all assassination, all freaking out, all Mona kicking ass and taking charge. It was good to see someone rain down moderated and polite hellfire on that whiny daughter.

The weather has been surprisingly nice for November, I haven't really needed a coat or anything. Mid 60s to upper 70s. Woof.

My computer is experiencing a lag, and I have to wonder if the processor has slowed. AppleCare is up in May, so I'm thinking about getting a new computer here eventually.

Farmville continues to be awesome. I dominate at imaginary farming, guys. Dominate.

The UPS guy came to deliver my shoes yesterday while I was gone for an HOUR down the street at the gym. Coincidentally, no one was here, so he had to leave a note without telling me when they'd be back today. At least give me some idea of when I should be here so I don't feel like I'm being held hostage. Honestly.

I should probably spend the day outlining anyway. No Evidence this morning.
